Ms. Heidi Battles

              Ms. Heidi Battles is an eighth grade social studies teacher at Boaz Middle School.  She is in her fourth year teaching. She taught for a year at Bitburg (Germany) Middle School, one year at Feagin Mill Middle School in Georgia, and is in her second year at B.M.S.  

             Ms. Battles quotes herself as "a citizen of the world" and lived many places growing up, including Ankara, Turkey, where she graduated from George C. Marshall High School.  She complete her undergraduate degree in 1998 at Athens State University and her Master's at Framingham State College in 2002.

             She has two children.  Julia is eight years old, and Jake is five.  Ms. Battles has a cat and a dog as  pets.

              Ms. Battles has been able to travel around the world and give students first-hand experience of the cultures and countries her classes study.  She enjoys traveling, soccer, and being with people.  One of Ms. Battles's core beliefs is that we are all humans, no matter what language we speak, what religion we practice, or what traditions we practice.
